Call for Papers: Language and Technology in the 21st Century

SEALLT and MAALLT Joint Conference

SEALLT - Southeast Association of Language Learning Technology
MAALLT - Mid-Atlantic Association of Language Learning Technology

Technology keeps moving ahead - do you know about podcasting, wikis, blogs, and smart boards? Does technology promise more than it can deliver? How much does all this technology cost?

We invite presentations, workshops, and panels of various lengths that interest K-16 language educators and professionals supporting the use and integration of technology in language learning.

Conference details will be forthcoming on our SEALLT and MAALLT websites.

Especially welcome are proposals for 15-60 minute sessions that illustrate the blending of foreign language learning with cultural topics and that address one of the following areas:
  • Inexpensive and Effective Technologies
  • Programs K-16 instructors can use the next day
  • A pot-luck of best practices and strategies for the foreign language classroom.
  • 5-Minute Video Tours of Media Centers in our area.

"E-learning is just not the right word anymore"

In a recent interview with Stephen Walsh from Kineo, the learning consultancy, she lamented that people still don't see beyond the idea of e-learning as a formal course. "E-learning is so much more than that, it's about collaboration, communication between learners and the sharing of knowledge and experiences...people think of e-learning as formal courses and all this other stuff as something else. E-learning is just not the right word's got more to do with e-working and performance support".
